so here's the scoop....

so here's the scoop....

I'm here not to try to figure out or give the best answer to solve your problem, but I am here for one mission and that mission is, " to give my scoop on your situation from my personal experiences." I, like everyone else here can only tell you so much. At the end of the process it's your idea, thought and decision that wins in the end...

So, here's the scoop....

A woman today was contemplating about getting gastric-by pass, I was waiting in line for my morning "cup of Joe" (one of many). She noticed that I was in the medical field (I believe it was the blue scrubs and crocs that was a dead giveaway). Anyhow, she was becoming flustered when her friends were giving her the run around and telling her she needed to change her diet, exercise. You know the same old story that we hear.

She then tapped me on my shoulder and asked," your in the medical field, what do you think about gastric-by pass?" Mind you, I don't know her and she was not as heavy set as she was making herself out to be. I asked if we could sit all together and chat it up. I explained and told her about people I knew who under gone the treatment. Some, pleased and others still struggling with their weight.

Like I mentioned above Im not here to figure out peoples problems, but she did ask for my advice. Although I sensed she wanted more of a medical validation I gave her a no brainer answer that was to the point and neither medical or personal choice. I simple told her to investigate other options, see what other "latest alternative life" choices that would suit her ( I hate the word diet, you'll pick up on that as time progresses.) Told her to look at the pro's and con's of the surgery and long term results.

Finally, after we got to the heart of the matter I ended the conversation with this, " I myself who struggles everyday with staying healthy, finding time to exercise and live a health lifestyle knows that its hard when people tell us to not find a "quick-fix." For some it works and for others it is simply a temporary thing, but what I came to realize in this day and age we need to be happy with ourselves. If we aren't the size or the right look that "society" thinks we should be then, so be it. It doesn't make us less worth or a horrible person. We are simply one more individual ingredient to this worlds big melting pot of originality! We exchanged numbers and have been keeping in touch! I'll keep you all posted, and until next time...

So here is my thought of the day and I would love to hear from you all:

Everyday we get ready and on those rare days we start hearing that small voice in our heads saying ( and admit we all know what I am talking about) gosh, I look huge in those jeans or this use to fit me so perfectly? What do you do or think about to change those little thoughts in your head? Are you saying, " Today is the day I'll hit the gym and workout 20 mins more or simply say this is who I am and I'm happy with what I look like? Share your thoughts, I'd love to know!

I'll start with mine:

I know I'm not the smallest person in the world. Gosh, when I was born I was made a certain way. when you think of the sterotype of asian women you think small petite, small breasted women with no hips that can wear anything. That was thrown out when I was born, I'm the one thats 5'1, 36D and with thighs the size of boa! All my life I tried to work out, do sports and wear body shapers to hide my breast. I even duck tapped my breast during my jr. year of track and field. I became that self-concious. Eventually, as I got older and now in my late 20's I've came to appreciate my curves. I have that little voice inside of me tell me differently every now and then. I don't smoke, I only drink on special occasions and workout everyday. I live a rather healthy life. So, instead of putting myself down and listening to that voice in my head, I've embraced it and man, do I look great in the summer in my bikini top! The bottom still a work in progress, but It's getting there!! haha...
